How I work
Three things I actually do
Each of these came out of something that went wrong first.
Make it visible before you fix it
A site went down and nobody knew for hours, because there was nothing watching it. I started with one exporter on one server and ended up with dashboards and alerting across about twenty-five machines. Most problems are invisible before they are hard.
Caught a live site down from a dashboard before any customer noticed.
Break it on my own machine first
Before any of the monitoring went near a client's production infrastructure, I spun up my own EC2 instances and built the whole thing there — exporters, scrape jobs, dashboards, alert rules. Learning on somebody else's live system is a decision you only get to make once.
The first client dashboard went up on a setup I had already broken in private.
Take the thing you haven't done
Frontend, then backend, then security scanning, then infrastructure. Every one of those started with not knowing how, and the not-knowing has stopped being a reason to say no. It is the part of the job I am most comfortable with now.

Same company, same year, three different jobs. Nobody planned it that way — each one started with something I had not done before.

- Took on a multi-tenant email platform: console, workers, dispatcher, queue, spam-guard and IP-reputation libraries.
- Wrote analytics migrations against a column store, including enum changes on materialised views.
- Built observability from nothing — Prometheus, node exporters, blackbox probes, Grafana and alerting across roughly 25 servers.
- Automated backups for the company's self-hosted Git, and wrote about the whole thing on the company blog.

- Crossed into the backend ten weeks in: activity-log schema, models, routers and services, with versioned migrations.
- Built security-scanning APIs in FastAPI — specification validation, health checks and scanner engine logic.
- Worked across several products at once, including an internal operations suite with separate admin, employee and driver front ends.
- Shipped product and client marketing sites end to end, including SEO, structured data and deployment.

- Built the authenticated dashboard: sign-in, route guards, job and server views, pagination and session monitoring.

My first proper trip with friends was Manali, in my college years — four or five days of mountains, hiking and a horse that had far more confidence on those paths than I did. It was the first time I understood why people bother travelling.
I go to the gym, I like being around people who are better than me at things, and I am still the person who will try a business idea on a weekend and abandon it by Tuesday.
